wavebench
wavebench is created as a design proposal for a contest by Holmris B8. The concept of the contest, was to create a new piece of furniture, by reusing the material from old office-chairs.
The starting point for the design, was to distance ourselves from the original form of the chairs and challenge the use of the material. We wanted to exploit the qualities of the original shape of the shell of the chairs, the curve of the back, this being the toughest, most durable part. This curve inspired us towards the shape of the wave, when placing more of these curves next to each other. The only new, added material is the upholstery and the lashes beneath the seat.
wavebench is designed and produced by Julie Wittrup-Jensen, Lærke Ryom and Sofie Rueskov Sundby.
