Studio POLY
Studio POLY is founded in 2017 by Sofie Rueskov Sundby and Frederikke Wild Meier. The studio is based on a long process of experiments, all concerning innovative ways to reuse the plastic waste of everyday life, into new durable design solutions.
Instead of producing new plastic material, why not use the plastic that is already in the world? Plastic is both strong, tough and endlessly recyclable. In our project, we have made a collaboration with AVL A/S, who sponsored samples of clean and shredded plastics for us to work with AVL A/S collects reused plastic from all over Denmark, which we have turned into a sheet material. This material is the foundation for our design solutions. This design takes responsibility for the otherwise wasted materials in a circular economy. We want to add value to the discarded trash.
The two chairs are the current outcome of the experimental phase. The chairs are made of HDPE plastic - the material used is recycled and the chairs can be recycled again. The material has lead us to the form and function - which is still in progress. The chairs is created to start a discussion about responsible furniture production and raise awareness of the amount of reusable material that already exist on the earth. Our vision is to continue to develop our recycled material, and hopefully soon be able to start a production of a new furniture line.
Information about Studio POLY will continuously be updated on instagram @studio_poly.

The two prototype chairs has been exhibited at Finders Keepers and at The Royal Danish Design School (KADK) as a part of the "Climate Change"-exhibition.
